Collinwood Over Clarksville Academy 48-21

COLLINWOOD — Collinwood bounced back from last week’s loss against Wayne County in a big way, rushing for 404 yards in a playoff-opening 48-21 win against Clarksville Academy on Friday night.

Collinwood (7-4) travels to top-seeded Jo Byrns next Friday in the second round of the Class A playoffs.

Tanner Sanderson, Zach Evans and Logan Montgomery scored two touchdowns each and the Trojans intercepted four passes to get the win.

Evans scored on runs of 12 and 66 yards, while Sanderson scored on runs of 5 and 84 yards. Montgomery’s TD runs covered 5 and 14 yards.

Collinwood broke on top 20-0 in the second quarter as Evans, Sanderson and Montgomery each had touchdown runs.

Clarksville scored on a touchdown pass to trim the Collinwood’s lead to 20-7 at the half.

The Trojans sealed the win with three touchdowns in the third quarter as Sanderson, Evans and Jacob Ritter had touchdown runs.
